Warminster 'Midi' Running Day 2008
The Warminster Vintage Bus Running Day has always set out to re-create the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s era of bus operation in West Wiltshire. The 2008 ‘midi’ event was no exception. Join us on this video programme to go back in time to a bygone age and sample the delights of many different types of buses and coaches. The day starts foggy as the vehicles arrive to take up their duties.
There is plenty of action at the ‘Coach Station’ and in the High Street. We then take a ride on board former Bristol Omnibus 1257 (DAE 511K) a Bristol RELL6L, freshly painted in the Bristol ‘one man’ livery of green over cream on a journey to Sutton Veny. Our next ride is on a Bristol VRT from Abus of Bristol, in a livery celebrating 100 years of Bristol buses. XHK 221X takes us to Westbury Railway Station, where we change to former Bristol Tramways, 2388 (LHT 911) a 1948 Bristol L5G with BBW body for the ride back to Warminster ‘Coach Station’.
More action is filmed in the town before a Mystery Tour coach ride. The destination turns out to be the pretty village of Wyley. Our journey there is in the luxury of a Bristol RELH6G coach, originally with Crosville, but sporting the attractive livery of Bristol Greyhound. At Wyley we change vehicles and return on board the superbly restored Bedford VAL 14 with Plaxton bodywork of King Alfred Motor Services, entered by FoKAB. As you will see the weather turns out to be a spectacular autumn day, with bright sunshine and a temperature of seventy degrees Fahrenheit!
There are many other vehicles
to enjoy, too many to mention here! So come and join us on this lovely
English running day and enjoy these beautifully restored vehicles from
a bygone era. We also feature some of our footage from the 2003 and
2005 Running Days!
