Troopers Lodge Motor
Services (TLMS) are the organisers of the excellent Cotswold Vintage Bus
Rally. The independent transport
videos cameras had the pleasure of attending both the 2024 and 2025
rallies to film a superb collection of buses and coaches operating on four
different routes through the lovely Cotswold countryside. TLMS supply vintage buses for hire for
weddings and special events. They also
attend running days and rallies as well as in 2025 they operated ‘Heritage Bus
Service 11’ that tours the Cotswolds from Moreton-in-Marsh to Minster Lovell
and return from May to September on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays
using buses from their collection.
At
the 2024 Cotswold Vintage Bus Rally they supplied 15 buses and coaches and 16
at the 2025 event. Since 2024 the events
are held at the Cotswold Barn Café in Longborough, Moreton-in-Marsh. In 2025 a park-&-ride site was also used,
not far away, to give more space for the buses and coaches. A good selection of visiting buses and
coaches also attended both events and ran in service alongside the TLMS
vehicles. At the 2024 event we take you
with our cameras on four spectacular rides.
The first on board former City of Exeter 75 (JFJ 875), a 1950 Daimler
CVD6 with Weymann B35F bodywork on route 2 to Broadwell and return. The second ride is on route 3 to Broadway on
board 1813 (OWC 722M), a 1973 Bristol RELL6L with a 49-seat ECW body in the
livery of Blue Bus Services. Our third
ride is on board another City of Exeter bus, this time it’s 50 (TFJ 808), a
1956 Guy Arab IV with a Massey H56R body on route 1 to Moreton-in-Marsh railway
station. Our final ride is on route 4 to
Blockley War Memorial on 2150 (FHW 156D), a 1966 Bristol MW6G with a 39-seat
ECW coach body that was operated by Bristol Omnibus in Bristol Greyhound
livery. There is plenty of action filmed
at Cotswold Barn in between the rides so you can see the excellent variety of
vehicles in attendance.
A visit to the
2025 event does not disappoint. It was a
very hot sunny day that made the buses and coaches sparkle! Again we took our camera on four rides for
you to enjoy. The first on the first
Bristol VRT in the Southern Vectis, 622 (NDL 490G), dating from 1968 and with
an ECW H70F body, we travel on route 3 to Broadway and back to Cotswold
Barn. The second ride is on former East
Kent Dennis Lancet III, CFN154 that has a Park Royal B35R body and dates from
1949 on route 4 to Blockley War Memorial.
Our third ride is on route 1 to Moreton-in-Marsh railway station on
board 410 (410 DCD), a 1964 Leyland Titan PD3/4 with a Northern Counties
convertible open-top body seating 69 from the famous Southdown fleet returning
to Cotswold Barn to see some of the departures.
Our final ride is a real treat!
From Moreton-in-Marsh railway station we travel on the return journey to
Cotswold Barn on former East Kent FFN 451, a Leyland Royal Tiger PSU1/15 with a
Park Royal C37C body. This coach dates
from 1951 and is a fitting finale to our visit to the Cotswold Vintage Bus
Rally 2025. We hope you enjoy our
programme!
